Thanks to all of you who attended the I Choose Us marriage seminar in Ft. Smith this past weekend! It is exciting to see couples making marriage a priority and recognizing that great marriages don’t just happen. I (Jackson) had an opportunity to speak with a young couple that came. They attended because their parents had been to the I Choose Us seminar in March, had an excellent experience, and encouraged them to go. The encouragement was not just in words - their parents also watched their kids and paid for them to attend! It was great to see how this family went the extra mile to make sure that this young couple had the opportunity to enrich their marriage. I wonder how much the marriages in our community would be impacted if we all made a commitment, like this family, to make marriages a priority in our actions.

Wednesday, March 18th, 2009Anyone who attended the most recent I Choose Us marriage seminar knows how much we encourage couples to do simple yet meaningful things for their marriage. We do this because we have seen that one of the biggest opportunities for couples to strengthen their marriage is to consider what they do for one another daily. For example, I found out that my wife didn’t have a very good night’s sleep last night so I told her to keep sleeping and that I would get the kids ready for school (although I’m sure my poor children were teased based on how I dressed them!). Although these actions may seem small and insignificant, if done day after day, they can help take your marriage from good to great.
That is why we have been asking couples around NWA, “What have you done for your marriage today?” You can see some of their responses in this video. We would love to see your response to this question, so leave a comment below to share what you have done!
