Date Night: 4Play Tips

4Play Tips

Act like you are on a date and make sure you set the date apart from any typical night. Before the date starts, act as you did when you and your spouse first started dating. Build the excitement!

  • After sending your spouse the date night e-vite, immediately put the time on your planner, your BlackBerry, your iPhone, or write it on the family calendar.
  • Guys…take the initiative and schedule the babysitter in plenty of time. This will help your wife to relax.
  • Stick to your scheduled time. Try your best to avoid making calendar changes unless there is something unavoidable. Don’t ditch your date just because you are too busy or tired.
  • Send each other text messages the day before: “I can’t wait for our date tomorrow!
  • Put your best foot forward! Remember when you used to take hours to get ready for the date? Likewise, take special care to get dressed up for the occasion.
  • Wear a new fragrance when you are getting ready for the date. You could also wear the same fragrance, which you wore during your courtship days that your spouse liked. It will surely revive the spark of passion between you two.
  • Compliment your spouse on the way they look.
  • Be polite. Open doors, hold hands and lock arms while you are on a date. You need to be a thorough gentleman and a perfect lady.
  • A little PDA (public display of affection) doesn’t hurt anyone. Hold hands, steal kisses, cuddle, caress, and put your arms around each other.
  • Try to give each other surprises on your date together. It can be anything from a different hairstyle, flowers, poem, picture of the two of you, favorite snack, a note, special dessert, or a small gift.
  • Pretend you have nothing in common. Pretend that you don’t live in the same house. Pretend you don’t have the same bills, the same kids, etc. Pretend this is all new to you. This will help you reach for some new conversation.
  • Listen to each other when you are talking. However, refrain from talking negative about each other or about anyone in general. Remember, this is a conflict-free evening!
  • Act like you’re trying to get a second date. Pretend that this is your “first” date and try to make a great impression. Be charming, be curious, and be funny. Don’t take for granted the fact that you can date your spouse anytime. Show enthusiasm and excitement. Try to make it memorable! This is a great way to set the mood and make the date a little more special.
  • Send a text message the day after: “I had such a good time on our date last night…” and be specific about why.
